Road Bike: Bavarian Lakes Road Bike Tour

Cycle holidays in the bavarian pre Alps

On the edge of the Bavarian Alps you will find a wonderful landscape with rivers, lovely lakes and mountains. The area is also called „the blue land“. The tour starts in the famous city of Garmisch Partenkirchen with the highest mountain in Germany (Mount Zugspitze) and alpine ski races in winter time. You will follow the river trail along the Isar River passing the lake Tegernsee and the spa city of Bad Tölz. Passing by the farmland and many little hamlets, you will cycle through the hilly countryside just outside of Munich. Expect the real Bavaria with its churches, beer gardens, monasteries and rich landscape.

TOUR PROFILE: You will cycle through a slightly hilly area passing wonderful lakes and villages. On the first days, the landscape will be more alpine and afterwards softer with many lakes. For this tour, we expect a good basic fitness and for the longer option, you should be fit. There will be some steeper ascents, which are not very long and steep descents to pass. Most of the time there are small hills to climb up and afterwards it goes down again.
